Theoretical Foundations of Nursing Practice Test

Psychology and economics are classified as human or social sciences because they focus on human behavior, social interactions, and the structures and processes within society. These disciplines study how individuals and groups think, behave, and make decisions, often analyzing the complexities of relationships and societal influences.

Human and social sciences emphasize understanding the patterns of human activity and the factors that shape human experiences and societal systems. In contrast, natural sciences, such as physics and chemistry, deal with the physical world and its laws, while basic or pure sciences focus on fundamental principles and theoretical foundations without immediate practical application. Practice or applied sciences strive to use knowledge from these theories to address real-world problems, often within fields like engineering or medicine, but they do not primarily examine human behavior and social structures as psychology and economics do. Thus, the classification of psychology and economics as human or social sciences accurately captures their focus on understanding the dynamics of human thought and societal function.
